Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 625 ILCS 5/2-125

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Secretary of State may in his discretion set maximum fees charged by any person, firm, corporation or private institution within the State of Illinois concerning the acceptance of applications for registration, certificate of title, or drivers license and for the distribution of motor vehicle license plates and other related functions of the Office. The Secretary of State may adopt and promulgate such rules and regulations as he shall deem necessary to effectuate and administer the provisions of this Section.
