Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 775 ILCS 55/1-35

  • individual: shall include every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.36
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     A unit of local government may enact ordinances, standards, rules, or regulations that protect an individual‘s ability to freely exercise the fundamental rights set forth in this Act in a manner or to an extent equal to or greater than the protection provided in this Act. A unit of local government may not regulate an individual’s ability to freely exercise the fundamental rights set forth in this Act in a manner more restrictive than that set forth in this Act. This Section is a limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State.
