Terms Used In Iowa Code 321G.20

  • Designated snowmobile trail: means a snowmobile riding trail on any public land, private land, or public ice that has been designated by the department, a political subdivision, or a controlling authority for snowmobile use. See Iowa Code 321G.1
  • Driver: means a person who operates a motor vehicle for the transportation of railroad workers in the motor vehicle on behalf of a railroad worker transportation company, whether the person is employed by the company for wages or drives for the company as an independent contractor. See Iowa Code 327F.39
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Person: means an individual, partnership, firm, corporation, association, and the state, its agencies, and political subdivisions. See Iowa Code 321G.1
  • Person: includes any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, joint adventure, or association, and the plural as well as the singular number. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Snowmobile: means the same as defined in section 321G. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Snowmobile: means a motorized vehicle weighing less than one thousand pounds which uses sled-type runners or skis, endless belt-type tread with a width of forty-eight inches or less, or any combination of runners, skis, or tread, and is designed for travel on snow or ice. See Iowa Code 321G.1
 A person under sixteen years of age shall not operate a snowmobile on a designated snowmobile trail, public land, or public ice unless the operation is under the direct supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or another person of at least eighteen years of age authorized by the parent or guardian, who is experienced in snowmobile operation and who possesses a valid driver‘s license, as defined in section 321.1, or an education certificate issued under this chapter.
