Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 10-311

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Municipality: as used in this chapter and all acts amendatory thereto, unless otherwise expressed in such amendment, shall mean and include every corporation and quasi corporation empowered to issue bonds in payment of which taxes may be levied. See Kansas Statutes 10-101
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

(a) “Revenue bonds” mean bonds issued by any municipality to be paid from the revenue derived from the operation of a publicly owned utility, instrumentality or facility of a revenue producing character, or which are not general obligations of the issuing municipality.

(b) “Municipality” means any city, county, municipal or quasimunicipal corporation or other political subdivision of the state authorized to issue revenue bonds.

(c) Revenue bonds issued by a municipality shall not be included in computing the total bonded indebtedness of such municipality for the purpose of determining the limitations on bonded indebtedness of such municipality.
