Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 17-4605

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The name of a cooperative shall include the words “electric” and “cooperative,” and the abbreviation “Inc.” The name of a cooperative shall be distinct from the name of any other cooperative or corporation organized under the laws of, or authorized to do business in, this state. Only a cooperative or corporation doing business in this state pursuant to this act shall use both the words “electric” and “cooperative” in its name.
