Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 19-4415

  • Agency: means a county law enforcement agency established under the provisions of this act. See Kansas Statutes 19-4425
  • Board: means the policy-making governing body of the agency with overall direction and control of law enforcement in any county adopting the provisions of this act. See Kansas Statutes 19-4469
  • Department: means a county law enforcement department established under the provisions of this act. See Kansas Statutes 19-4425
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC

The board of county commissioners of any county adopting the provisions of this act shall provide the agency and department with such quarters and facilities as the agency shall deem necessary. County law enforcement agencies may utilize quarters and facilities previously used by the sheriff of the county in the enforcement of the law and may enter into contracts with cities located within the county for the use by such agency of city jail facilities. The board of county commissioners may construct or may acquire by purchase, condemnation or lease, buildings and facilities for the use of the agency and department in like manner as that provided by law for the construction or acquisition of public buildings for the use of the county.
