Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 72-26,120

  • Board: shall mean the board of education of any city of the first class operating a retirement system under the provisions of Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-26,115
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Retirement system: means the state school retirement system;

    (b) "board" means the board of trustees of the Kansas public employees retirement system;

    (c) "school year" means either the twelve-month period beginning on September first, or the legal school term during such period. See Kansas Statutes 72-2624

For the purpose of providing a fund to pay the annuities and obligations to retired members under the separate retirement system and for the purpose of paying a portion of the principal and interest on bonds issued by cities under the authority of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 12-1774, and amendments thereto, for the financing of redevelopment projects upon property located within the school district, the board is hereby authorized to levy a tax of not to exceed six-tenths (.6) mill on all tangible taxable property within the jurisdiction of the board. Such levy shall be in lieu of the levy authorized by Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 72-1780 and none of the levy limitations provided in article 19 of chapter 79 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated shall apply to such levy.
