Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 30:2175

  • Hazardous waste: means any waste, or combination of wastes, which because of its quantity, concentration, physical, or chemical characteristics may cause or significantly contribute to an increase in mortality or an increase in serious irreversible or incapacitating reversible illness, or pose a substantial present or potential hazard to human health or the environment when improperly treated, stored, transported, disposed of, or otherwise managed. On or before October 21, 1980, the commission shall promulgate regulations implementing a comprehensive state hazardous waste control program.  The commission shall hold not less than three public hearings for the purpose of receiving public input on the development of the regulations.  Such regulations shall be promulgated after public hearing thereon in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, La. Rev. Stat. 49:950 et seq., and shall be consistent with the mandates of 42 USCA §6901 et seq. and the minimum criteria hereinafter set forth.
