Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15226

  • Chief inspector: means an individual in the employ of the State whose duties include the examination and inspection of elevators and tramways and who has been designated as chief inspector by the Commissioner of Professional and Financial Regulation.   • Deputy inspector: means an individual in the employ of the State whose duties include the examination and inspection of elevators and tramways under the direction of the chief inspector. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202
  • Director: means the Director of the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation within the department. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202
  • Owner: means a firm, person, partnership, association, corporation or state or political subdivision that owns an elevator or tramway. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202
A deputy inspector or licensed private inspector shall make a full report to the chief inspector, giving all data required by the rules adopted by the director and shall report to the chief inspector and to the owner all defects found and all noncompliances with the rules. When any serious infraction of the rules is found by a deputy inspector or licensed private inspector and that infraction is, in the opinion of the inspector, dangerous to life, limb or property, the inspector shall report that infraction immediately to the chief inspector.
