Terms Used In Michigan Laws 28.522

  • Certificate: means a commission-issued document that identifies a qualified retired law enforcement officer who is certified under 18 USC 926C and this act. See Michigan Laws 28.512
  • Firearm: means that term as defined in section 1 of 1927 PA 372, MCL 28. See Michigan Laws 28.512
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  A firearm that is carried in violation of this act is subject to seizure and forfeiture in the same manner that property is subject to seizure and forfeiture under section 4701 to 4709 of the revised judicature act of 1961, 1961 PA 236, MCL 600.4701 to 600.4709. This section does not apply if the violation is a state civil infraction under section 5f of 1927 PA 372, MCL 28.425f, unless the individual fails to present his or her certificate within the 45-day period described in that section.
