- state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
For the purpose of administering any state tax as allowed under 42 U.S.C. § 405, the commissioner of the department of revenue administration is authorized to require the submission of a social security number, a federal employer identification number, or any other identifying number used in filing or preparing federal tax returns by individuals, businesses, or return preparers.
