Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 535:7

  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
  • Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
  • Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
Service of the petition or information and order may be made as required in actions begun by writ of summons. If such service is not practicable, service may be made by publication, or in such other manner as the court may order.
