Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 669:37
- Caucus: From the Algonquian Indian language, a caucus meant "to meet together." An informal organization of members of the legislature that exists to discuss issues of mutual concern and possibly to perform legislative research and policy planning for its members. There are regional, political or ideological, ethnic, and economic-based caucuses.
- state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
In a town which has adopted the partisan ballot system under N.H. Rev. Stat. § 669:12, nominations may be made by any caucus of legal voters representing a political party which at the state election next preceding polled at least 3 percent of the entire vote cast in the state for the office of governor.
