§ 83.15 Exclusive basis.

- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
Subject to section 81.18 of this title, this article provides the exclusive jurisdictional basis for a court of this state to appoint a guardian of the person or issue a protective order for an adult.
