Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 104-8

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The United States is hereby authorized to acquire lands by  condemnation or otherwise in this State for the purpose of preserving  the navigability of navigable streams and for holding and administering such lands for national park purposes: Provided, that this section and N.C. Gen. Stat. § 104-9 shall in nowise affect the authority conferred upon the United States and reserved to the State in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 104-5 and 104-6. (1925, c. 152, s. 1.)
