  • Aggregator site: A Web site that provides access to information regarding insurance products from more than one insurer, including product and insurer information, for use in comparison shopping. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Blanket travel insurance: A policy of travel insurance issued to any eligible group providing coverage for specific classes of persons defined in the policy with coverage provided to all members of the eligible group without a separate charge to individual members of the eligible group. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Cancellation fee waiver: A contractual agreement between a supplier of travel services and its customer to waive some or all of the non-refundable cancellation fee provisions of the supplier's underlying travel contract with or without regard to the reason for the cancellation or form of reimbursement. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Eligible group: Solely for the purposes of travel insurance, two or more persons who are engaged in a common enterprise, or have an economic, educational, or social affinity or relationship, including any of the following:

  • Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." In English legal history, the courts of "law" could order the payment of damages and could afford no other remedy. See damages. A separate court of "equity" could order someone to do something or to cease to do something. See, e.g., injunction. In American jurisprudence, the federal courts have both legal and equitable power, but the distinction is still an important one.   • following: when used by way of reference to any section of a statute, shall be construed to mean the section next preceding or next following that in which such reference is made; unless when some other section is expressly designated in such reference. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3
  • Fulfillment materials: Documentation sent to the purchaser of a travel protection plan confirming the purchase and providing the travel protection plan's coverage and assistance details. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Group travel insurance: Travel insurance issued to any eligible group. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

  • Travel assistance services: Non-insurance services for which the consumer is not indemnified based on a fortuitous event, and where providing the service does not result in the transfer or shifting of risk that would constitute the business of insurance.   • Travel insurer: An insurer as defined in N. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Travel protection plans: Plans that provide one or more of the following: travel insurance, travel assistance services, and cancellation fee waivers. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Travel retailer: As defined in N. See North Carolina General Statutes 58-44B-5
  • Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
