(A) A joint committee to examine the activities of the state‘s protection and advocacy system and client assistance program is hereby established.

  • Joint committee: Committees including membership from both houses of teh legislature. Joint committees are usually established with narrow jurisdictions and normally lack authority to report legislation.
  • state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59

(B) The joint committee shall consist of three members of the senate appointed by the senate president, two from the majority party and one from the minority party, and three members of the house of representatives, two from the majority party and one from the minority party, appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives. In odd-numbered years, the senate president shall designate a member of the senate as the chairperson of the committee and in even-numbered years, the speaker of the house of representatives shall designate a member of the house of representatives as the chairperson of the joint committee.
