Whenever provision is made for absentee voting by a statute of the United States, including the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, 42 U.S.C. § 1973ff (Public Law 99-410), an application for a ballot made under that law may be given the same effect as an application for a ballot made under ORS § 253.500 to 253.640.
