Tennessee Code 44-8-401 – Livestock not to run at large

(a) It is unlawful for the owners of any livestock, as defined in § 43-1-114, to willfully allow the livestock to run at large in this state.

Under the Tennessee Code, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:

Class	Prison	Fine
class C misdemeanor	up to 30 days	up to $50

Livestock: means all equine as well as animals that are being raised primarily for use as food or fiber for human utilization or consumption including, but not limited to, cattle, sheep, swine, goats, and poultry. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

(b) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
