(a) The board shall elect annually a chair and vice chair.

  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) Each member shall receive all necessary expenses incident to conducting the business of the board and, in addition thereto, shall be entitled to a per diem of one hundred dollars ($100) for each day’s service in conducting the business of the board. All reimbursements for travel expenses shall be in accordance with the comprehensive travel regulations as promulgated by the department of finance and administration and approved by the attorney general and reporter.
(c) The board shall hold at least one (1) regular meeting each year, the required meeting to be held at the state capitol. Called meetings may be held at the discretion of the chair or at the written request of any two (2) members of the board.
(d) The board shall adopt a seal, which must be affixed to all certificates issued by the board.
(e)

(1) The board shall, periodically, adopt such rules and regulations as it may deem necessary for the performance of its duties and shall examine and pass upon the qualifications of the applicants for the practice of psychology as provided in this chapter.
(2)

(A) Six (6) members of the board at all times constitute a quorum.
(B) Any action taken by the board shall require the approval of six (6) of its members.
(f) The board shall be empowered to hire such assistance as is necessary to carry on its activities, within the limits of funds available to the board, and shall be empowered to accept grants from foundations or institutions to develop tests and carry on its functions.
(g) The board shall receive administrative support from the division of health related boards in the department of health, referred to as the “division” in this chapter.
(h) The board shall establish continuing educational requirements for psychologists designated as health service providers and psychological examiners, senior psychological examiners, certified psychological assistants, and certified psychological testing technicians.
