- Agricultural land: means "land in agricultural use" as defined in Section 59-2-502. See Utah Code 17-41-601
- Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- labor dispute: as used in this chapter include any controversy concerning terms or conditions of employment, or concerning the association or representation of persons in negotiating, fixing, maintaining, changing or seeking to arrange terms or conditions of employment, or concerning employment relations, or any other controversy arising out of the respective interests of employer and employee, regardless of whether or not the disputants stand in the proximate relation of employer and employee. - Land: includes :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Legislative: when used to describe the powers, duties, or functions of a county commission or council, refers to:
(a) the power and duty to enact ordinances, levy taxes, and establish budgets; and (b) those powers, duties, and functions that, under constitutional and statutory provisions and through long usage and accepted practice and custom at the federal and state level, have come to be regarded as belonging to the legislative branch of government. See Utah Code 17-50-101 - Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
- Open land: includes land described in Subsection (2)(a) that contains facilities, including trails, waterways, and grassy areas, that, in the judgment of the county legislative body:
(i) enhance the natural, scenic, or aesthetic qualities of the land; or (ii) facilitate the public's access to, or use of, the land for the enjoyment of the land's natural, scenic, or aesthetic qualities and for compatible recreational activities. See Utah Code 17-41-601 - Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Public land county: means a county in which over 50% of the land area is publicly owned. See Utah Code 17-41-601
- real property: includes :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Rollback tax funds: means the rollback taxes paid to a county in accordance with Sections 59-2-506, 59-2-511, 59-2-1705, and 59-2-1710. See Utah Code 17-41-601
- Temporary restraining order: Prohibits a person from an action that is likely to cause irreparable harm. This differs from an injunction in that it may be granted immediately, without notice to the opposing party, and without a hearing. It is intended to last only until a hearing can be held.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
