  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • following: when used by way of reference to a section of the law shall mean the next preceding or following section. See
  • Month: shall mean a calendar month and "year" shall mean a calendar year and be equivalent to the expression "year of our Lord. See
  • Person: shall include any natural person, corporation, municipality, the State of Vermont or any department, agency, or subdivision of the State, and any partnership, unincorporated association, or other legal entity. See
  • person or corporation owning or operating a telephone line or business: as used in this chapter , shall not include a person or corporation that is engaged in the resale of telephone transmission capacity but does not own or operate any telephone lines or transmission facilities within the State, but such person or corporation engaging in the resale of telephone transmission capacity shall be subject to income taxation under chapter 151 of this title.   • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See
