Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 205 ILCS 5/4

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The certificates, permits and charters of state banks existing at the time of the adoption of this Act shall continue in full force and effect, and the provisions of this Act shall apply thereto. Any corporation with banking powers availing itself of or accepting the benefits of this Act and all corporations with banking powers existing by virtue of any special charter or general law of this State, shall be subject to the provisions and requirements of this Act in every particular, as if organized under this Act.
