- Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
- Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
The Attorney General of the State of Illinois shall be ex officio attorney for the Authority and shall be its legal advisor and legal representative. In addition to the specific duties imposed upon the Attorney General by this Act, he shall further act as attorney for the Authority in all of its transactions and shall represent the Authority in all of its litigation, and examine and approve all contracts, leases, bonds or other undertakings or obligations entered into by the Authority as to their form and constitutionality prior to their execution and delivery.
