- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Transfer of realty to other State agency; acquisition of federal lands. The Department has the power to transfer jurisdiction of any realty under the control of the Department to any other department of the State government, or to acquire or accept federal lands, when the transfer, acquisition, or acceptance is advantageous to the State and is approved in writing by the Governor.
