Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.

Sec. 501. A creditor in a first lien mortgage transaction shall comply with IC 6-1.1-12-43, to the extent applicable.
