  • Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.

When the bail is taken under the provisions of Sections defendant – By arresting officer” class=”unlinked-ref” datatype=”S” sessionyear=”2020″ statecd=”AL” title=”15″>15-7-20 and 15-7-21, in fixing the amount of bail, it must be presumed that the offense is of an aggravated nature.
