  • Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.

If the accused is not arrested under warrant of the governor by the expiration of the time specified in the warrant, bond, or undertaking, a judge or magistrate may discharge the accused or may recommit the accused for a further period of not more than 60 days, or a judge or magistrate may again take bail for the appearance and surrender of the accused, as provided in Alaska Stat. § 12.70.150, but within a period of not more than 60 days after the date of the new bond or undertaking.
