Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 13.21.055

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
  • personal property: includes money, goods, chattels, things in action, and evidences of debt. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

A foreign personal representative submits personally to the jurisdiction of the courts of this state in any proceeding relating to the estate by (1) filing authenticated copies of appointment as provided in Alaska Stat. § 13.21.030, (2) receiving payment of money or taking delivery of personal property under Alaska Stat. § 13.21.015, or (3) doing any act as a personal representative in this state that would have given the state jurisdiction over the personal representative as an individual. Jurisdiction under (2) of this section is limited to the money or value of personal property collected.
