When the bureau receives a certificate of live birth under Alaska Stat. § 18.50.160 for a newborn who was delivered outside of a hospital, the bureau shall forward the names and addresses of the parents to the department employees who administer the screening program set out in Alaska Stat. § 47.20.310 – 47.20.390. Those department employees shall notify the child’s parents of the merits of having the child screened for hearing ability.
