In Alaska Stat. § 36.90.20036.90.290,

(1) “prime contractor” means a person required to be registered as a contractor under Alaska Stat. Chapter 08.18 who has a contract with the state or a political subdivision of the state to provide materials or services, other than as an employee, for a public construction or public works project;

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(2) “subcontractor” means a person at any level, other than a prime contractor, who provides materials or services, other than as an employee, to be used in a public construction or public works project;
(3) “working day” does not include a Saturday, Sunday, or state holiday.
