• Abstract of judgment: In a federal criminal proceeding, A certification from a U.S. District Court clerk that a judgment of restitution was entered against the defendant owing to the victim. If the defendant inherits, owns, or sells real property or holdings, these assets can then be attached at the state and local levels as well.
• Administrative procedure: means any written administrative procedure adopted by the local agency for presentation of a grievance for ultimate decision by the governing body of the local agency. See California Government Code 53296
• Advanced transportation technologies: means emerging commercially competitive transportation-related technologies identified by the authority as capable of creating long-term, high-value-added jobs for Californians while enhancing the state's commitment to energy conservation, pollution and greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and transportation efficiency. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• affected city: includes the electorate of an affected county or city exercising its local initiative or referendum power, whether that power is derived from the California Constitution, statute, or the charter or ordinances of the affected county or city. See California Government Code 66300
• Affected county: means a census-designated place, based on the 2013-2017 American Community Survey 5-year Estimates, that is wholly located within the boundaries of an urbanized area, as designated by the United States Census Bureau. See California Government Code 66300
• Agency: means the agency authorized under Section 66957 to expend money in the fund. See California Government Code 66953
• Allegation: something that someone says happened.
• Alternative sources: means devices or technologies used for a renewable electrical generation facility, as defined in paragraph (1) of subdivision (a) of Section 25741, a combined heat and power system, as defined in §. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
• Association: includes any lodge, order, beneficial association, fraternal or beneficial society or association, historical, military, or veterans organization, labor union, foundation, or federation, or any other society, organization, or association, or degree, branch, subordinate lodge, or auxiliary thereof. See California Corporations Code 21300
• Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
• Attorney-in-fact: A person who, acting as an agent, is given written authorization by another person to transact business for him (her) out of court.
• Authority: means the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority established pursuant to Section 26004, and any board, commission, department, or officer succeeding to the functions of the authority, or to which the powers conferred upon the authority by this division shall be given. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• Authority: means an entity established by the state that requires its members, including, but not limited to, local government entities, to adopt a resolution stating their intent to participate. See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• award: as used in this chapter , may include, but is not limited to, contracts, grants, interagency agreements, loans, and other financial agreements designed to fund public interest research, demonstration, and development projects or programs. See California Public Resources Code 25620.1
• Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.
• Bequest: Property gifted by will.
• Board: means the governing board of the San Joaquin River Conservancy. See California Public Resources Code 32504
• Board: means the Wildlife Conservation Board created pursuant to Article 2 (commencing with Section 1320) of Chapter 4 of Division 20 of . See California Public Resources Code 10332
• board: means any entity listed in Section 101, the entities referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600, the State Bar, the Department of Real Estate, and any other state agency that issues a license, certificate, or registration authorizing a person to engage in a business or profession. See California Business and Professions Code 31
• Board: as used in this chapter , means the regional planning board. See California Government Code 65060.4
• child: means a member's child who is dependent upon such member at the time of his death and while such child is unmarried and:

  California Government Code 31843

• child: means a member's child who, when the member dies, is both dependent on the member and unmarried, as well as any of the following:

  California Government Code 31855.3

• City: means the City of Vallejo. See California Government Code 66678
• City: includes "city and county" and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Government Code 20
• City: includes city and county. See California Business and Professions Code 18
• City: includes incorporated city, city and county, municipal corporation, municipality, town and incorporated town. See California Financial Code 13
• clerk: means the engrossing and enrolling clerk or the employee who performs the duties of engrossing and enrolling clerk when no employee is so designated by name. See California Government Code 9500
• Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
• Commission: means the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission. See California Government Code 66678
• Commissioner: means any county agricultural commissioner. See California Food and Agricultural Code 26
• Committee: means the Lake Tahoe Acquisitions Finance Committee created by Section 66955. See California Government Code 66953
• committee: means a committee of either the Senate or Assembly, a joint committee of both houses, or, when any of the foregoing committees is authorized to create subcommittees, a subcommittee. See California Government Code 9400
• committee: means the engrossing and enrolling committee of the house ordering the engrossing or enrolling of a bill or other document or the committee of such house which performs the duties of engrossing and enrolling committee when no committee is so designated by name. See California Government Code 9501
• Community-based organizations: as used in this article means a public or private nonprofit organization of demonstrated effectiveness that represents a community or significant segments of a community and provides support and services to individuals in the community. See California Government Code 65052.2
• Complaint: means any written document containing a disclosure of information as specified in subdivision (c). See California Government Code 53296
• Concurrent resolution: A legislative measure, designated "S. Con. Res." and numbered consecutively upon introduction, generally employed to address the sentiments of both chambers, to deal with issues or matters affecting both houses, such as a concurrent budget resolution, or to create a temporary joint committee. Concurrent resolutions are not submitted to the President/Governor and thus do not have the force of law.
• concurrently: means the action is approved at the same meeting of the legislative body. See California Government Code 66300
• Conservancy: means the San Joaquin River Conservancy. See California Public Resources Code 32504
• Conservation easement: means a conservation easement, as defined by §. See California Public Resources Code 10332
• Council: as used in this chapter , means the Planning Advisory and Assistance Council established pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 65040. See California Government Code 65028.1
• Council of governments: means a single or multicounty council created by a joint powers agreement pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 6500) of Division 1 of Title 1. See California Government Code 65582
• County: includes city and county. See California Government Code 19
• County: means the County of Solano. See California Government Code 66678
• County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
• County: includes city and county. See California Business and Professions Code 17
• County: includes "city and county. See California Public Resources Code 14
• County: includes city and county. See California Financial Code 14
• County: includes city and county. See California Food and Agricultural Code 29
• Decedent: A deceased person.
• Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
• Department: means the Department of Transportation. See California Government Code 66678
• Department: means the Department of Conservation. See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• Department: means the Department of Health Care Access and Information. See California Health and Safety Code 123451
• department: means State Department of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 20
• Department: means the Department of Housing and Community Development. See California Government Code 66300
• Department: means the Department of Housing and Community Development. See California Government Code 65582
• Department: means the Department of Food and Agriculture. See California Food and Agricultural Code 32
• Director: means "State Director of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 21
• Director: as used in this article means the Director of the Office of Planning and Research within the Governor's office. See California Government Code 65052.2
• directors: means natural persons, designated in the articles or bylaws or elected by the incorporators, and their successors and natural persons designated, elected, or appointed by any other name or title to act as members of the governing body of the corporation. See California Corporations Code 5047
• Disciplinary action: means any direct form of discipline as defined in personnel rules and regulations adopted by the local agency. See California Government Code 53296
• Disclosure of information: means the written provision of evidence regarding gross mismanagement or a significant waste of funds, an abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety. See California Government Code 53296
• Disqualified person: means a licensed person who for any reason becomes legally disqualified (temporarily or permanently) to render the professional services that the particular professional corporation or foreign professional corporation of which they are an officer, director, shareholder, or employee is or was rendering. See California Corporations Code 13401
• dissenting shareholder: means the recordholder of dissenting shares and includes a transferee of record. See California Corporations Code 1300
• dissenting shares: means shares to which all of the following apply:

• District: as used in this chapter , means a regional planning district created by the Office of Planning and Research pursuant to Section 65040. See California Government Code 65028.2
• District: as used in this chapter , means a district created and operating under this chapter. See California Government Code 65060.3
• Donor: The person who makes a gift.
• Electronic transmission by the corporation: means a communication (a) delivered by (1) facsimile telecommunication or electronic mail when directed to the facsimile number or electronic mail address, respectively, for that recipient on record with the corporation, (2) posting on an electronic message board or network which the corporation has designated for those communications, together with a separate notice to the recipient of the posting, which transmission shall be validly delivered upon the later of the posting or delivery of the separate notice thereof, or (3) other means of electronic communication, (b) to a recipient who has provided an unrevoked consent to the use of those means of transmission for communications under or pursuant to this code, and (c) that creates a record that is capable of retention, retrieval, and review, and that may thereafter be rendered into clearly legible tangible form. • element: means the housing element of the community's general plan, as required pursuant to this article and subdivision (c) of Section 65302. See California Government Code 65582
• eligible parcel: means a parcel that meets all of the following criteria:

• eligible spouse: means an individual who is caring for one or more of the children (as defined in Section 31843) of a deceased member and who is:

  California Government Code 31842

• Employee: means any person employed by a local agency. See California Government Code 53296
• Executive Officer: as used in this article means the individual who manages the Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications. See California Government Code 65052.2
• Fair market value: The price at which an asset would change hands in a transaction between a willing, informed buyer and a willing, informed seller.
• Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation: A government corporation that insures the deposits of all national and state banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System. ^{Source: OCC}
• Fixed Rate: Having a "fixed" rate means that the APR doesn't change based on fluctuations of some external rate (such as the "Prime Rate"). In other words, a fixed rate is a rate that is not a variable rate. A fixed APR can change over time, in several circumstances:
  • You are late making a payment or commit some other default, triggering an increase to a penalty rate
  • The bank changes the terms of your account and you do not reject the change.
  • The rate expires (if the rate was fixed for only a certain period of time).
• Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. ^{Source: OCC}
• Foreign professional corporation: means a corporation organized under the laws of a state of the United States other than this state that is engaged in a profession of a type for which there is authorization in the Business and Professions Code for the performance of professional services by a foreign professional corporation. See California Corporations Code 13401
• Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. ^{Source: OCC}
• Frequent user coordinated care housing services: means housing combined with other supportive services for homeless persons identified by a city or county as the most costly, frequent users of publicly funded emergency services. See California Government Code 65582
• Functional plan: as used in this chapter , means an intermediate- or short-range plan for the operation of a discrete function of state government. See California Government Code 65026
• Fund: means the Abortion Practical Support Fund. See California Health and Safety Code 123451
• Fund: means the Lake Tahoe Acquisitions Fund. See California Government Code 66953
• Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
• Grand jury: agreement providing that a lender will delay exercising its rights (in the case of a mortgage,
• Grant program: means the program established pursuant to Section 10280. See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• Grantee: means a qualifying nonprofit organization in California that assists pregnant people with direct practical support for the purposes of obtaining an abortion. See California Health and Safety Code 123451
• Guarantor: A party who agrees to be responsible for the payment of another party's debts should that party default. ^{Source: OCC}
• Health professional: means a physician and surgeon, registered nurse, nutritionist, dietitian, or state or local medically trained health official, who is competent to professionally evaluate nutritional need and to authorize supplemental foods, as determined by the state department. See California Health and Safety Code 123285
• Indemnification: In general, a collateral contract or assurance under which one person agrees to secure another person against either anticipated financial losses or potential adverse legal consequences. ^{Source: FDIC}
• individual: includes every natural person, domestic or foreign private corporation, nonprofit corporation, unincorporated association, company, partnership of whatever kind, syndicate, joint stock company, trustee, protective committee, depositors' league, and other similar organization however described. See California Corporations Code 27002
• initiative: means the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine established in Section 65057. See California Government Code 65056
• Insignia: includes badge, motto, button, decoration, charm, emblem, or rosette. See California Corporations Code 21300
• Intangible property: Property that has no intrinsic value, but is merely the evidence of value such as stock certificates, bonds, and promissory notes.
• Inter vivos: Transfer of property from one living person to another living person.
• Intermediary: as used in this article means a third-party governmental or private entity contracted by the office to perform grant and fund management and other services as required to manage and provide resources to the community-based organizations. See California Government Code 65052.2
• Joint committee: Committees including membership from both houses of teh legislature. Joint committees are usually established with narrow jurisdictions and normally lack authority to report legislation.
• Joint meeting: An occasion, often ceremonial, when the House and Senate each adopt a unanimous consent agreement
• Joint powers authority: means a joint powers authority established pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 6500) of Division 7 of Title 1 of . See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• jurisdiction: means a city, city and county, or county. See California Government Code 65582
• Lawsuit: A legal action started by a plaintiff against a defendant based on a complaint that the defendant failed to perform a legal duty, resulting in harm to the plaintiff.
• license: means license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Section 1000 or 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.7
• Licensed person: means any natural person who is duly licensed under the provisions of the Business and Professions Code, the Chiropractic Act, or the Osteopathic Act to render the same professional services as are or will be rendered by the professional corporation or foreign professional corporation of which the person is, or intends to become, an officer, director, shareholder, or employee. See California Corporations Code 13401
• Licensee: means any person authorized by a license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.8
• local agency: means any county, city, city and county, including any charter county, city, or city and county, and any district, school district, municipal or public corporation, political subdivision, or public agency of the state, or any instrumentality of one or more of any such agencies. See California Government Code 53247
• Local agency: means city, county, or district. See California Government Code 53290
• Local agency: means any county, city, city and county, including any charter county, city, or city and county, and any district, school district, community college district, municipal or public corporation, political subdivision, or public agency of the state, or any instrumentality of any one or more of these agencies. See California Government Code 53296
• local agency: means any city, county, or special district, or subdivision thereof, which is authorized to provide solid waste handling services. See California Public Resources Code 25741
• Local government entity: means any city, county, city and county, or district, including, but not limited to, park and open-space districts, resource conservation districts, and other special districts. See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• Local public agency: means any city, county, city and county, resource conservation district, district formed pursuant to Article 3 (commencing with Section 5500) of Chapter 3 of Division 5, authority formed pursuant to Division 26 (commencing with Section 35100), or joint powers authority made up of two or more local public agencies and one or more state agencies. See California Public Resources Code 10332
• Low income: means an income of not more than 185 percent of the poverty level as determined by the federal poverty income guidelines promulgated by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. See California Health and Safety Code 123285
• Manager: means any employee having significant responsibilities for formulating or administering local agency or departmental policies and programs or administering the local agency or a department. See California Government Code 53296
• Maternal and Child Health Program Act: means Section 120380, Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 103925) of Part 2 of Division 102, Article 4 (commencing with Section 116875) of Chapter 5 of Part 12 of Division 104, Article 1 (commencing with Section 123225) of Chapter 1 of Part 2 of Division 106, Article 2 (commencing with Section 125000) of Chapter 1 of Part 5 of Division 106, and Sections 125075 to 125110, inclusive. See California Health and Safety Code 27
• Member agencies: means the City of Fresno and Counties of Fresno and Madera. See California Public Resources Code 32504
• Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
• National Bank: A bank that is subject to the supervision of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is a bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department. A national bank can be recognized because it must have "national" or "national association" in its name. ^{Source: OCC}
• Nonprofit organization: means any nonprofit public benefit corporation that has among its purposes the conservation of agricultural lands, and holds a tax exemption, as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and further qualifies as an organization under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(iv) or 170(h)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. See California Public Resources Code 10280.5
• Nonprofit organization: means any nonprofit public benefit corporation formed pursuant to the Nonprofit Corporation Law (Division 2 (commencing with Section 5000) of Title 1 of . See California Public Resources Code 10332
• Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
• Nutrition coupon: means a check that is limited as to value, food type, and food quantity and that has a limited period of validity. See California Health and Safety Code 123285
• Oath: includes affirmation. See California Government Code 15
• Office: as used in this article means the Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications. See California Government Code 65052.2
• Office: as used in this chapter means the Office of Planning and Research. See California Government Code 65025
• Officer: means any appointed member of a local board, commission, or other governing body who supervises or is responsible for the work of one or more local agency employers. See California Government Code 53296
• Official census: as used in this chapter , means any decennial or special federal census, or an official estimate of the State Department of Finance. See California Government Code 65060.5
• organizer: means a person who agrees to contribute funds to a proposed association to be used for its organization expenses. See California Financial Code 5400
• Original bill: A bill which is drafted by a committee. It is introduced by the committee or subcommittee chairman after the committee votes to report it.
• parent: means :

  California Government Code 31844

• parent: means the father or mother of the deceased member who at the time of the death of such member was not less than 62 years of age and was receiving not less than one-half of his or her support from the member, and who has not remarried since the member's death. See California Government Code 31855.4
• Parkway: means the San Joaquin River Parkway, as described in Section 32510. See California Public Resources Code 32504
• Participating party: means a person, federal or state agency, department, board, authority, or commission, state or community college, or university, or a city or county, regional agency, public district, school district, or other political entity engaged in the business or operations in the state, whether organized for profit or not for profit, that applies for financial assistance from the authority for the purpose of implementing a project. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• Person: includes any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, business trust, corporation, or company. See California Government Code 17
• Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Health and Safety Code 19
• Person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
• Person: as used in this chapter includes an individual, a firm, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, association or other organization, or any combination thereof. See California Business and Professions Code 7025
• Person: includes any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, limited liability company, syndicate, estate, trust, business trust, or organization of any kind. See California Financial Code 18
• Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, limited liability company, or any organized group of persons whether incorporated or not. See California Food and Agricultural Code 38
• Personal property: includes money, goods, chattels, things in action, and evidences of debt. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
• pet dealer: means a person engaging in the business of selling dogs or cats, or both, at retail, and by virtue of the sales of dogs or cats is required to possess a permit pursuant to §. See California Health and Safety Code 122125
• Plan: means the White Slough Specific Area Plan adopted pursuant to this chapter. See California Government Code 66678
• Practical support: means financial or in-kind assistance to help a person access and obtain an abortion in California. See California Health and Safety Code 123451
• predominantly agricultural county: means a county that meets both of the following, as determined by the most recent California Farmland Conversion Report produced by the Department of Conservation:

  California Government Code 66300

• President pro tempore: A constitutionally recognized officer of the Senate who presides over the chamber in the absence of the Vice President. The President Pro Tempore (or, "president for a time") is elected by the Senate and is, by custom, the Senator of the majority party with the longest record of continuous service.
• Process: includes a writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings of either a civil or criminal nature. See California Government Code 22
• Process: includes all writs, warrants, summons, and orders of courts of justice, or judicial officers. See California Government Code 26660
• Professional corporation: means a corporation organized under the General Corporation Law or pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 13406 that is engaged in rendering professional services in a single profession, except as otherwise authorized in Section 13401. See California Corporations Code 13401
• Professional services: means any type of professional services that may be lawfully rendered only pursuant to a license, certification, or registration authorized by the Business and Professions Code, the Chiropractic Act, or the Osteopathic Act. See California Corporations Code 13401
• Project: means a land, building, improvement to the land or building, rehabilitation, work, property, or structure, real or personal, stationary or mobile, including, but not limited to, machinery and equipment utilized in the state, whether or not in existence or under construction, that utilizes, or is designed to utilize, an alternative source, or that is utilized for the design, technology transfer, manufacture, production, assembly, distribution, or service of advanced transportation technologies or alternative source components. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• Property: means any real property, and any perpetual interest therein, including land, conservation easements, and land containing water rights. See California Public Resources Code 10332
• Property: includes both personal and real property. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
• purchaser: means a person who purchases a dog or cat from a pet dealer without the intent to resell the animal. See California Health and Safety Code 122125
• Qualified property: means property that is rangeland, grazing land, or grassland and is used or is suitable for grazing. See California Public Resources Code 10332
• qualifier: as used in this chapter , means a person who qualifies for a license pursuant to Section 7068. See California Business and Professions Code 7025
• Recipient: means low-income pregnant women, low-income post partum and lactating women, and low-income infants and children under five years of age, who are determined to be at nutritional risk by a health professional, based on criteria established by the state department. See California Health and Safety Code 123285
• reducing the intensity of land use: includes , but is not limited to, reductions to height, density, or floor area ratio, new or increased open space or lot size requirements, new or increased setback requirements, minimum frontage requirements, or maximum lot coverage limitations, or any other action that would individually or cumulatively reduce the site's residential development capacity. See California Government Code 66300
• Region: includes that part of Lake Tahoe within the jurisdiction of the State of California, the adjacent parts of the Counties of El Dorado and Placer lying within the Tahoe Basin in the State of California, and that additional and adjacent part of the County of Placer outside of the Tahoe Basin in the State of California which lies southward and eastward of a line starting at the intersection of the basin crestline and the north boundary of Section 1, thence west to the northwest corner of Section 3, thence south to the intersection of the basin crestline and the west boundary of Section 10. See California Government Code 66905.5
• region: means the area consisting of Lake Tahoe, the adjacent parts of the Counties of Placer and El Dorado lying within the Tahoe Basin in the State of California, and that additional and adjacent part of the County of Placer outside the Tahoe Basin in the State of California which lies southward and eastward of a line starting at the intersection of the basin crestline and the north boundary of Section 1, thence west to the northwest corner of Section 3, thence south to the intersection of the basin crestline and the west boundary of Section 10. See California Government Code 66953
• Region: as used in this chapter , means the area included within a district. See California Government Code 65060.6
• Regional plan: as used in this chapter , means a comprehensive, long-term general plan for the physical development of the region, and any land outside its boundaries which in the board's judgment bears relation to its planning. See California Government Code 65060.7
• Report: means the report entitled "Investing in Renewable Electricity Generation in California" (June 2001, Publication Number P500-00-022) submitted to the Governor and the Legislature by the commission. See California Public Resources Code 25741
• Report: as used in this chapter , means the State Environmental Goals and Policy Report. See California Government Code 65027
• Reprisal action: means any act of intimidation, restraint, coercion, discrimination, or disciplinary action against any employee, or applicant for employment, who files a complaint pursuant to Section 53297. See California Government Code 53296
• Retail seller: means a "retail seller" as defined in §. See California Public Resources Code 25741
• Revenue: means all rents, receipts, purchase payments, loan repayments, and all other income or receipts derived by the authority from a project, or the sale, lease, or other disposition of alternative source or advanced transportation technology facilities, or the making of loans to finance alternative source or advanced transportation technology facilities, and any income or revenue derived from the investment of money in any fund or account of the authority. See California Public Resources Code 26003
• Secretary: means the Secretary of Food and Agriculture. See California Food and Agricultural Code 35

• Solar energy system: means a solar energy device that has the primary purpose of providing for the collection and distribution of solar energy for the generation of electricity, that produces at least one kW, and not more than five MW, alternating current rated peak electricity, and that meets or exceeds the eligibility criteria established pursuant to Section 25782. • South White Slough: means all tidally influenced areas south of State Highway Route 37 which would naturally drain northerly to the Napa River, any areas within the tidally influenced portions of the slough that have been filled pursuant to a commission permit, and any areas within the tidally influenced portions of the slough which have been filled after January 1, 1977, without a permit from the commission. • Statute of limitations: A law that sets the time within which parties must take action to enforce their rights.
• Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which that term occurs, unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Business and Professions Code 15

• supervisor: means any employee regardless of job description or title, having authority, in the interest of the employer, to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline other employees, or responsibility to direct them, or to adjust their grievances, or effectively to recommend this action, if, in connection with the foregoing, the exercise of this authority is not of a merely routine or clerical nature, but requires the use of independent judgment. • Supportive housing: means housing with no limit on length of stay, that is occupied by the target population, and that is linked to an onsite or offsite service that assists the supportive housing resident in retaining the housing, improving his or her health status, and maximizing his or her ability to live and, when possible, work in the community. • Supportive services: include , but are not limited to, a combination of subsidized, permanent housing, intensive case management, medical and mental health care, substance abuse treatment, employment services, and benefits advocacy. See California Government Code 65582
• Target population: means persons with low incomes who have one or more disabilities, including mental illness, HIV or AIDS, substance abuse, or other chronic health condition, or individuals eligible for services provided pursuant to the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act (Division 4. • Temporary restraining order: Prohibits a person from an action that is likely to cause irreparable harm. This differs from an injunction in that it may be granted immediately, without notice to the opposing party, and without a hearing. It is intended to last only until a hearing can be held.
• Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
• Transitional housing: means buildings configured as rental housing developments, but operated under program requirements that require the termination of assistance and recirculating of the assisted unit to another eligible program recipient at a predetermined future point in time that shall be no less than six months from the beginning of the assistance. • White Slough: means , within the county and the city, the historic, unfilled bed of White Slough, all lands surrounding the historic bed of White Slough that have been touched by tidal waters since January 1, 1977, any areas within the tidal and tidally influenced portions of the slough that have been filled pursuant to a permit from the commission, and any areas within the tidal and tidally influenced portions of the slough which have been filled after January 1, 1977, without a permit from the commission. • White Slough Project: means , within the county and the city, the restoration and enhancement of the habitat values of South White Slough, the widening of State Highway Route 37 between Sacramento Street and State Highway Route 29 to not more than four traffic lanes with medians and shoulders of the minimum width possible, the construction of new tidal channels and control structures underneath the existing and the widened portions of State Highway Route 37, the construction of new interchanges between State Highway Route 37 and State Highway 29 and Sacramento Street, the covering with fill of an existing sewerline on the south side of the highway widening, and the relocation of the existing sewerline north of State Highway Route 37 within the area required for the widening of State Highway Route 37.
