Whenever an oath or affidavit is necessary in order that a person may obtain charity or relief from any agency or department of the United States, the State or any political subdivision thereof, no fee shall be charged for the taking of the oath.

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Charity: An agency, institution, or organization in existence and operating for the benefit of an indefinite number of persons and conducted for educational, religious, scientific, medical, or other beneficent purposes.
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • Oath: includes affirmation. See California Government Code 15
  • Person: includes any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, business trust, corporation, or company. See California Government Code 17
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Government Code 18
  • Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which the term occurs unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Government Code 10
