  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Assessment roll: refers to the assessment roll upon which general taxes of the entity are collected. See California Health and Safety Code 5470
  • Auditor: means the financial officer of the entity. See California Health and Safety Code 5470
  • City: includes "city and county" and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Government Code 20
  • Clerk: means the clerk of the legislative body or secretary of the entity. See California Health and Safety Code 5470
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • County: includes city and county. See California Government Code 19
