- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
- Covered establishment: means any industrial or commercial facility or part thereof that employs, or has employed within the preceding 12 months, 75 or more persons. See California Labor Code 1400.5
- department: means State Department of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 20
- Employer: means any person, as defined by Section 18, who directly or indirectly owns and operates a covered establishment. See California Labor Code 1400.5
- Layoff: means a separation from a position for lack of funds or lack of work. See California Labor Code 1400.5
- Person: means any person, association, organization, partnership, business trust, limited liability company, or corporation. See California Labor Code 18
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
