For the purposes of this article, waste is the causing, suffering, or permitting any water flowing from an artesian well, to run either:

(a) Into any natural watercourse or channel, or into any bay or pond, unless the water is used thereafter for irrigation or domestic use.

Terms Used In California Water Code 301

  • Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Water Code 19
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Water Code 18
  • United States: means the United States of America, and in relation to any particular matter includes the officers, agents, employees, agencies, or instrumentalities authorized to act in relation thereto. See California Water Code 20

(b) Into any street, road, or highway.

(c) Upon the land of any person or upon the public land of the United States or of the State, unless it is used thereon for irrigation, domestic use, or the propagation of fish.
