The district may bring a suit in the court having jurisdiction against any producer of ground water from the ground water supplies within the district for the collection of any delinquent replenishment assessment, interest, or penalties. The court having jurisdiction of the suit may, in addition to any judgment, award interest and costs on any judgment as allowed by law.

  • Ground water: means nonsaline water beneath the surface of the ground, whether or not flowing through known and definite channels. See California Water Code 71683
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Producer: means any person or operator producing ground water within the boundaries of the district. See California Water Code 71683
  • water: includes potable water and nonpotable water. See California Water Code 71611
