  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • County: includes "city and county. See California Streets and Highways Code 14
  • Department: means the Department of Transportation of this state. See California Streets and Highways Code 20
  • Director: means the director of the department. See California Streets and Highways Code 21
  • Feasibility report: means such report on the feasibility of a public agency's proposed project as the department may require the public agency to file with the department in support of an application by the public agency under this chapter for a loan for the construction of the proposed project. See California Water Code 12881.2
  • highway: includes bridges, culverts, curbs, drains, and all works incidental to highway construction, improvement, and maintenance. See California Streets and Highways Code 23
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

  • Project: means any dam, reservoir, or other construction or improvement by a public agency for the diversion, storage, or distribution of water primarily for domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial, recreation, fish and wildlife enhancement, flood control, or power production purposes.   • Public agency: means any city, county, district or other political subdivision of the state. See California Water Code 12881.2
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Water Code 18
  • State highway: means any highway which is acquired, laid out, constructed, improved or maintained as a State highway pursuant to constitutional or legislative authorization. See California Streets and Highways Code 24
