Connecticut General Statutes 8-144 – Powers of municipality
Any municipality or other municipal corporation is hereby authorized, without limiting any provision in § 8-143, to do any and all things necessary to aid and cooperate in the planning and undertaking of an urban renewal project in the area in which such municipality or corporation is authorized to act, including the furnishing of such financial and other assistance as the municipality or public body is authorized by this chapter to furnish for or in connection with a redevelopment plan or redevelopment project, and including the entering into a written agreement fixing the assessment of real estate to be used for a rental housing project to be constructed in a redevelopment or urban renewal area pursuant to § 12-65. Any municipality or other public body is authorized to enter into agreements, which may extend over any period, notwithstanding any provision or rule of law to the contrary, with any other public body or bodies respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by this part, including the furnishing of funds or other assistance in connection with an urban renewal plan or urban renewal project.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Redevelopment: means improvement by the rehabilitation or demolition of structures, by the construction of new structures, improvements or facilities, by the location or relocation of streets, parks and utilities, by replanning or by two or more of these methods.
