Terms Used In Florida Statutes 189.065

  • Department: means the Department of Economic Opportunity. See Florida Statutes 189.012
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Special district: means a unit of local government created for a special purpose, as opposed to a general purpose, which has jurisdiction to operate within a limited geographic boundary and is created by general law, special act, local ordinance, or by rule of the Governor and Cabinet. See Florida Statutes 189.012
Any state agency administering funding programs for which special districts are eligible shall be responsible for oversight of the use of such funds by special districts. The oversight responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

(1) Reporting the existence of the program to the Special District Accountability Program of the department.
(2) Submitting annually a list of special districts participating in a state funding program to the Special District Accountability Program of the department. This list must indicate the special districts, if any, that are not in compliance with state funding program requirements.
