Terms Used In Florida Statutes 82.04

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Record titleholder: means a person who holds title to real property as evidenced by an instrument recorded in the public records of the county in which the real property is located. See Florida Statutes 82.01
The court shall determine only the right of possession and any damages. Unless it is necessary to determine the right of possession or the record titleholder, the court may not determine the question of title.
