May 15 of each year is officially declared as Peace Officers Memorial Day, in commemoration of peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The Governor shall issue a proclamation annually calling upon the people of Guam to observe Peace Officers Memorial Day. The Governor shall appoint a Peace Officers Memorial Day Committee to plan and make appropriate arrangements for the observance of this day. The Committee may consist of representatives of the various departments or entities from which the recognized peace officers have served, the family members of such officers, and other interested individuals.
