Terms Used In 5 Guam Code Ann. § 66118

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The provisions of this Chapter are severable, and if any of its provi- sions or their application to any person or circumstances shall be held unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the decision of the court shall not affect or impair any of the remaining provisions or applications of this Chapter which can be given effect with- out the invalid provision or application.
