Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 171-64

  • Board: means the board of land and natural resources. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 171-1
  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Land: includes all interests therein and natural resources including water, minerals, and all such things connected with land, unless otherwise expressly provided. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 171-1
  • Person: includes individual, partnership, corporation, and association, except as otherwise defined in this chapter. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 171-1

The board of land and natural resources shall provide in every patent, deed, lease, agreement, license, or permit that the use and enjoyment of the premises being granted shall not be in support of any policy which discriminates against anyone based upon race, creed, color, national origin, sex or a physical handicap. The board shall not dispose of any public land to any person who practices discrimination based upon race, creed, color, national origin, sex or a physical handicap. As used in this section “physical handicap” means a physical impairment which substantially limits one or more of a person’s major life activities.
