Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 486-81

  • Administrator: means the administering officer of the quality assurance division, or any qualified person so designated by the chairperson. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 486-1
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Inspector: means any employee or official of the department authorized by the board to administer and enforce the provisions of this law. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 486-1

The administrator or any authorized inspector may confiscate as evidence any tools designed to change, manipulate, or otherwise alter the display of an odometer, when the inspector has reason to believe that such tools may be used in an illicit manner or by persons other than licensed dealers, or licensed repair agencies, or by persons gainfully employed by such agencies or dealers.
