Terms Used In Idaho Code > Title 54 > Chapter 59 - Naturopathic Doctor Licensing and Naturopath Registration

  • Board: means the Idaho board of naturopathic health care. See Idaho Code 54-5902
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • License: means a license to practice as a licensed naturopathic doctor. See Idaho Code 54-5902
  • Licensed naturopathic doctor: means an individual licensed as a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, doctor of podiatric medicine, doctor of chiropractic, doctor of dental medicine, or doctor of nursing practice who has obtained an approved naturopathic doctoral degree, as set forth in rule, and who voluntarily elects to seek and receives licensure under this chapter to practice naturopathic health care in Idaho. See Idaho Code 54-5902
  • Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
  • Naturopathic health care: means the delivery of a distinct primary health care emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health using therapeutic methods and substances that encourage an individual’s inherent self-healing process by a naturopathic practitioner. See Idaho Code 54-5902
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person;

  • Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories; and the words "United States" may include the District of Columbia and territories. See Idaho Code 73-114
