  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     To inspect, from time to time, all hospitals, sanitaria, and other institutions conducted by county, city, village, or township authorities and to report as to the sanitary conditions and needs of those hospitals, sanitaria, and institutions to the official authority having jurisdiction over them.
