Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 410 ILCS 215/7

  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     It shall be the duty of the State‘s Attorney for the proper district to prosecute for all misdemeanors as herein prescribed.
