(a) Any county under 1,000,000 inhabitants may, by resolution of its county board, create the position of sanitary inspector and may appoint any necessary assistants. Each sanitary inspector shall be a registered sanitarian under the “Sanitarian Registration Act”.
     (b) The sanitary inspector shall have the power to enforce and observe the rules, regulations and orders of the Department of Public Health and the provisions of this Act.

Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 410 ILCS 650/11.01

  • County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Municipalities: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.27

     (c) The sanitary inspector appointed pursuant to this Section has jurisdiction throughout the entire county, except within:
     (1) Municipalities;
     (2) Any public health district organized under “An Act to authorize the organization of public health districts and for the establishment and maintenance of a health department for the same”, filed June 26, 1917, as amended; and
     (3) Any public health district organized under “An Act in relation to the establishment and maintenance of county and multiple-county public health departments”, approved July 9, 1943, as amended.
