Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 440/3

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Petty offense: A federal misdemeanor punishable by six months or less in prison. Source: U.S. Courts
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Any officer or employee of any county, township, city or town, municipal corporation, agency or instrumentality of the State, or school district or school authority who violates any provision of this Act is guilty of a petty offense.
